IndexU Support

Do you run a directory for a geographical area? Do you want an Imagemap on your index? If you’re interested please contact me as I can probably accomodate your needs.

Single countries, states/provinces, counties or cities are possible. A world map however would be possible only if it was small enough so you would be limited to categories by continent.

The custom Imagemap can be made for a new category database or from your own geographic category database.

Imagemaps can also be made for many other types of sites and are not limited to geography. Almost any image could be used as an Imagemap.

Examples

• A picture of a car could be used for categories relating to autobody parts, engine parts, wheels/tires, exhaust etc.
• A picture of a person could be used for categories relating to medical specialists such as podiatrists or chiropractors.
• A picture of a furniture store could be used for categories relating to furniture such as tables, chairs, lights etc.
• A picture of a home entertainment unit oculd be used for categories relating to home electroics such as televisions, speakers, amplifiers and DVD players.

There is almost no limit to what you can do with an Imagemap and IndexU. It’s a great way to make your site look completely different from all the other directory sites out there even if you don’t change the theme!

Custom made Imagemaps start at $40 and up depending on complexity, installation is included. Paid members can receive a 15% discount.

To be honest, the way it’s done you will only be able to use your site for Canadian based sites.

You must also use the database of categories I have created because the image map is hard coded for the categories. You must also have mod_rewrite enabled and the mod_rewrite settings must be set at default.

NOTE - Due to the size of the image it may not fit in all templates. This image is more than 600px wide so please check to make sure you can use it first.

The Google Checkout payment method is a simple payment method that uses the Google Checkout API to accept payments.

Note that since it uses the HTML API there is no return to your site upon completion of payment. This is the simplest method of using Google Checkout payments. The XML API does offer more features, but it also requires that users have an SSL certificate. Since most SSL certificates require a unique IP address for each domain I felt that using the XML API would not benefit most users due to the cost involved.

Many users like to create custom fields as they add large amounts of functionality to your IndexU site.

But it’s a pain adding a lot of custom fields because the IndexU interface requires you to create them one by one.

What if I told you I know a way to add 5 or 50 or even 500 custom fields in less than five seconds? Would that save you a bunch of time? You bet it would!

I figured out this system when I had to modify 150 IndexU sites to upload custom databases to each one. Figuring that adding the custom fields manually to each one would take hours and hours I figured out how IndexU adds the fields to the database and was able to add the custom fields to all 150 sites in less than one hour total.
