I have decided to implement a subscription feature for Indexusupport.
Paid membership is priced at $50.00 per year and includes the following
- Free databases
- Three DMOZ slices per member per year
- Un-encoded mods and addons
- Tips for paid members only
- Live support
- Free themes
- Payment modules
Live support not available on weekends or holidays and is limited to 10 incidents per year. An incident is defined as a definite and separate occurrence of a single issue requiring no more than 30 minutes of time to complete. This issue will be worked on until it is fixed but will only include a singular issue. Custom programming is not included.
So how can you benefit from paid membership?
- The live support should be more than enough to pay for itself over the twelve months of your subscription
- Themes are currently for sale at a cost of approx $50 each. For the price of one theme you could have access a number of themes.
- Un-encoded mods give you the ability to see exactly how they are written and modify them if you require.
- Payment modules allow you to accept payments from more than one source.
- Some of the databases are sold for almost as much as the membership for just one database. This is a huge cost savings.

GREAT! I’m in. I just need a little time for my site to get some $$ in.
Outstanding idea. Good value.
Ignore the people that criticize it, they just want everything for free.
Anything that is worthwhile has a cost.
Define scope and limitations of Live Support, it could eat you up. At my own financial peril, I suggest that you provide X number of Support Units/Yr and sell additional units for Y dollars per bundle. Or maybe offer live support in bundles but at a discounted rate (half price?) for subscribers.
Note: run a spell check ;) implement & Un-encoded were what I saw.
Spelling errors fixed, although I’m not too worried about them. Usually I’m pretty good with it but I had a ton of work to do today.
I shall define the live help limitations, but haven’t decided upon a limit yet. I’ll figure that out tonight.
The themes will be coming, they will be slow for a bit as I have other immediate commitments but I should have one out by the end of the week for sure. The databases and un-encoded mods are already available.
I’m not sure how to let users know about what posts have mods for members other than people just clicking on posts. But I’ll put some thought into that tonight as well.
