Do you have translation issues with IndexU Deluxe?

You’re not alone. But the solution is very easy. Here’s what you MUST have. No this list is not a suggested list, it is a required list. And if you’re missing one part of it then your translation will not work properly.

1. You must have php compiled with gettext
2. You must have indexu set to use UTF-8
3. You must have your database set to use UTF-8
4. You must have the translated file (included with IndexU)

There have been a number of users lately that have not had PHP compiled with gettext and they have argued the fact that this is an IndexU issue.

This is not an IndexU issue. This is a server issue. When you install IndexU it comes set up to use UTF-8 and has a number of translation files. IndexU has done it’s job once you install it.

Now the server itself has to do it’s job. We have no control over which server you use, but it must meet the above requirements for translations to function. You cannot avoid it, you cannot get around it, you cannot get away with it.

We’re not trying to give you the runaround, gettext is required. Speak to your host about compiling php with gettext. If you are on an unmanaged server then you’ll need to hire someone to compile PHP for you.

But yes, you still need to have gettext.

So how does it work?

When a visitor clicks on your affiliate link they are sent to the Nicecoder website and given a cookie. That cookie is valid for 30 days and any time someone with an affiliate cookie makes a purchase in those 30 days you will receive 10% of the sale!

When your affiliate account gets more than $50 in it, you will be sent a payment via Paypal (default) or can elect to have a check sent to you if you do not have Paypal.

How much do I get?
You earn 10% of the sale of any software product. Installation and copyright removal purchases are not eligible for the affiliate program so no income will be generated from purchases of those items.

Can I earn more?
Absolutely! If you make 20 sales, your affiliate payout will be automatically upgraded to earn 15% of the sale. If you make another 20 sales you will be upgraded to earn 20% of the sale.

Why should I sign up?
Just by signing up we put $10 into your account! That makes it easier for you to get to your first check faster.

When do I get paid?
Payments are sent on the 15th of each month

How do I get paid?

What happened to the old affiliate program?
It was never working properly, and of the few sales that were recorded many of them were never completed or were fraudulent orders. Those orders have been removed but the signup bonus has been retained.

What happens if there is a fraudulent order?
All comissions must be approved manually. Along with the payouts on the fifth of the month this gives us the ability to remove fraudulent orders from your affiliate payouts so no issues should occur.

What if there is a refund for the order?
Refunds are typically very low, but in the event of a refund we will handle these on a case by case basis.

Could I put my affiliate earnings towards a new license?
Absolutely yes. We can deduct your earnings from the cost of a license or if you have enough earnings you could get a product for no cost.

Can I purchase products using my own affiliate ID?
No you cannot. Doing this is against the rules and you will end up with having your affiliate account closed.

What are acceptable methods of advertising my affiliate ID?
- An excellent place to put the affiliate ID is in the footer link to Nicecoder!
- In your signature on other forums that permit advertising of affiliate ID’s
- Use your affiliate ID on other websites that you own
- Use your affiliate ID on a google adwords (or similar) campaign

What are unacceptable methods of advertising my affiliate ID?
- We do not allow affiliate links on the nicecoder forums, do not use them here or you may be banned.
- We do not permit, allow or condone spam for the purpose of advertising your affiliate link. Spam is defined as unsolicited messages in any communication protocol (ie www, email, nntp, irc, instant messenger, fax etc) to one or more users
- If you have a mailing list you may advertise your affiliate ID on your list, providing it is an opt IN list that you created and maintain yourself on a domain that you both own and control. A purchased list does not qualify as an opt-in list.
- Requiring users to click on your affiliate link for the purpose of increasing traffic is not permitted
- You are not permitted to ask/beg/demand users to click on your affiliate ID

Does Nicecoder report my income or withhold taxes?
No we do not, you are responsible to report your income and pay any possible taxes due.

Can I put my affiliate ID on any website?
You may not use your affiliate ID on any site that displays, promotes or advertises gambling, adult content, hacking, warez, cracks, serials and offensive or hateful sites.

Failure to abide by any of the above rules will result in your affiliate account being removed.

September was an excellent month for Nicecoder. We saw the release of IndexU v1.1, iDesk 1.6.3, the opening of Indexutemplates.com and we had our first one day sale!

Indexutemplates opened in September and it is a success! Many users have signed up for an account and are enjoying the templates we have available. There will be at least one new template added monthly. At a cost of only $99 for a full year of access this is a bargain. Many template sites are selling templates for IndexU for $45 to $60 each.

NiceMember
A new product this month is called NiceMember. Nicemember is a membership management script. It will enable you to offer unlimited number of paid membership for your website visitors. It will handle everything from taking orders, product delivery, billing reminders, expiring orders, and a lot of more.

IndexuTemplates is using Nicemember as it’s sales engine so you can check out the possibilities by visiting there.

Our first one day sale was a huge success! Our plans are to have another one day sale again at some time in the future. An email will be sent to users the day before the sale.

IndexU News
What’s happening with IndexU? It’s going monthly! By releasing IndexU monthly you can be assured that bugs are fixed quickly and there will be new features all the time.

IndexU also has an amazing new feature that many users will enjoy and get a lot of use from. Many times a directory is jump started by simply adding a large number of URL’s, typically from a DMOZ slice or a purchased database. Having all these URL’s in your database makes your directory look like it is active, but that doesn’t always mean you have the most current keywords or description of the site. IndexU now has a built in function to fetch the meta description, title and keywords from every site in your directory and it will enter them into the database automatically!

This feature is available in the SVN (beta) version and will be available in the next release to all users. If you just want to take advantage of this new tool now without upgrading your IndexU you can download the SVN version and simply upload the /admin/ and /admin_tpl/ directories to your site. Now you can use the fetch meta tools!

Sneak Peek!
In October Nicecoder should be releasing NiceBackup v1.0, which is a Windows based desktop tool designed to run a full backup of your cPanel powered website and save it to your computer. NiceBackup runs in the background on a schedule and minimizes to the systray to keep out of the way.

No more need to worry about your host going down and not having a backup. Now if you’re on a cPanel server you have no excuse for not having a daily backup.

NiceBackup will be available soon, and the best part of it is? It’s free! Since NiceBackup is free we will not offer any official support from our helpdesk but you can get community support on our forums and a full manual will be available. Of course I will be there on the forum to offer help and guidance as well.

Some users have been reporting that the new sitemap for IndexU Deluxe v1.1 has been having some issues with memory usage.

Nicecoder is aware of the issue and is working on a fix for this. The fix should be released shortly.

The IndexU 5.x admin panel update offers users some nice additions that IndexU Deluxe users already have and one that they don’t!

Benefits
A new menu called “New Tools” with the following tools installed

1) New Sitemap. This will generate the new sitemap that IndexU Deluxe v1.1 is now using. This sitemap automatically pings Google, Ask, Yahoo and Live Search

2) Old Sitemap. This will generate the standard IndexU sitemap for you.

3) Massedit. This is a tool to mass edit your links and change their categories. Useful if you have imported a database or DMOZ slice and want to move things around

4) Fetch Meta. An excellent tool that will fetch the current meta descriptio, keywords and title from the websites listed in your directory and insert them into the database!

5) Update All Links. This tool updates your link counts. This tool is very useful for sites with very large link counts as it is designed so that it will not timeout.

6) Spam Links. This link will show you any listings that were flagged as spam when they were submitted. This is a function that is hiding in the admin panel, this link simply makes it easier to see this listings.
